It's very very old! In fact, the first forms of football come from 1004 B.C.. in Japan, where players kicked a ball around on a small field.
About 50 B.C., The Chinese placed a game kicking a ball filled with air.
Later on, the Romans played something similar to our present football in the early Olympic Games.
